Anika Rose is an American performer and actress. Most famous is her part as Tiana as the Princess, and the Frog's African-American Princess. She was recognized as an official Disney Legend. Rose was an Oscar-winning actor who performed the role of Lorrell on the screen in Dreamgirls. Anika Noni rose (born on the 6th September 1973) is an American actress and a vocalist. She is best known for portraying Tiana the first Disney African-American princess in The Princess and the Frog (2009). She was recognized as a Disney Legend in 2011. Her other starring performance, in the role of Lorrell Robinson as Lorrell Robinson, in Dreamgirls (2007) that has been nominated to win an Academy Award. And she is the jukebox player LaVerne Ganner in the Starz series Power. She is also known for her theatre performances, specifically for her starring roles as Emmie Thibodeaux and as Emmie in Caroline or Change, the Broadway show Caroline or Change (2004) for which she won the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Musical. She also played Beneatha Younger as part of The Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun (2014) for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
